​The museum features many exhibits, including 2 operating historic carousels. Our custodian is an important part of the staff’s effort to provide a clean and friendly experience to all visitors! The museum is adhering to CDC COVID protocols. This includes extra sanitation, the wearing of masks at all times, and socially distancing where applicable.

Our new Custodian will support the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum’s Mission by taking pride in making the museum sparkle, working with a small team of museum staff, and sharing ideas about how to make the museum an even more appealing place for people to visit.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Proven custodial skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a small team
  • Typical hours are from Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00am – 1:00pm and will vary during winter months.
  • Available 8-10 hours a week.
  • Must be able to work occasional weekends.
  • Attention to detail

TASKS INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO
  • Polishing brass
  • Cleaning bathroom facilities
  • Collecting and removing trash
  • Sweeping and mopping exhibit spaces

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Standing/Kneeling/Moving around the work area is required in performing custodial duties.
  • Lifting/Carrying/Pushing/Pulling: The ability to lift and carry a minimum of 30 pounds is necessary for moving equipment, tools and equipment/supplies.
  • Stooping/Kneeling: The ability to stoop and kneel is necessary to perform many custodial duties.

This Job Is open to applicants who
  • Do not have a college diploma
  • Are age 18+. Older job seekers are encouraged to apply
  • Do not have a high school diploma/GED
