HCFM Announces New Herschell-Spillman Motor Exhibit & 1923 Standard Car Project

The Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum has unveiled its new exhibit Phantom of the Brass Era: The Herschell-Spillman Motor Company. During a grand opening for the exhibit on April 18th, the museum also announced the acquisition of a 1923 Standard Sedanette automobile with an intact H-S V-8.
The exhibit features three engines built by the Herschell-Spillman Motor Company, alongside numerous historical photographs and other archival documents. The exhibit will be available to the public through December 2024, and is included with general admission. The museum thanks the following generous donors and partners for their efforts in this exhibit: Robert Winter, Richard Winter, and the Barrett Family. The exhibit was designed and installed by Doug Bathke, John Dumbrosky, Marissa Seib and Ian Seppala.
The Grand Opening of this Exhibit was a well attended event. The museum thanks Matt Mosher from Senator Ortt’s office, and elected officials North Tonawanda Mayor Austin Tylec, and North Tonawanda Common Council Members Alderman Joe Lavey, Jr. and Alderman Joe Marranca for their attendance to celebrate this event and the history of North Tonawanda.
The 1923 Standard Sedanette was recently acquired to continue the concerted effort of telling the full impact of the Herschell Companies in Western New York. The automobile is beginning a lengthy restoration process and will be on display at the museum in the future.
