Hi friends! For our sixth week of Summer STEM, our theme is Sound! There will be three activities for all ages. ![]() Our first activity is Osmos! This is a fun and creative iPad game that uses coding to create music, just like the band organs! ![]() The second activity is called Telephone! This simple and classic activity allows you to talk to your friend across the room with only cups and string! ![]() Our third activity is called Hello Echo, where we will test how noise can bounce off of objects! We hope you will join us for this week's theme of Sound! All activities can be found in the Children's Gallery.
Hi friends! For our fifth week of Summer STEM, our theme is Transportation! We will have three activities for all ages. ![]() For our first activity, we will be building boats! We will build them and test their strength. Boats were a very important way to travel especially with the newly constructed Erie Canal! ![]() Our second activity is called Glide like a Bird, where we will make paper airplanes and test different designs! As technology advanced, airplanes allowed for travel at further distances at even faster times. ![]() The third activity is Train Play, where we will explore how force and density influence motion! Not only did trains help transport carrousels, but the same thing used to power trains, the steam engine, was also used to power carrousels! All activities on Transportation can be found in the Children's Gallery Wednesday-Saturday. Hope to see you there!
Hi friends! For our fourth Summer STEM week, our theme is Engineering! Join us for three activities for all ages! ![]() Our first activity is called Build a Bridge, where we will explore what it takes to make a strong bridge using different materials around the museum! ![]() Our second activity is Magnetic Maze! In this activity, we will create our own maze for a magnet to go through. The tricky part: we won't be able to touch the magnet with our hands! ![]() The third activity this week is called Terrific Tower! For this activity, we will build our own tower using fun items. It's very important when building something to make sure it will stand on its' own! We hope you'll be able to join this week for Engineering! All activities can be found in the Children's Gallery.
Hi friends! For our third week of Summer STEM, our theme is Simple Machines! We will have three activities for all ages! ![]() Our first STEM activity is called Pulley Me Up, where we will learn how a pulley works by creating our own and testing its' strength with different objects! ![]() The second STEM activity is Crafty Gears. In this activity, we will try to make a pair of working gears! Gears are used to manage the direction and speed of other mechanical devices. They help the carrousel spin! ![]() Our third STEM activity is Create a Car, where we will include a wheel and axle into the design of your very own toy car! All activities for our summer STEM week of Simple Machines can be found in the Children's Gallery. Hope to see you there!
